Complete

I have finished the research proposal! It is in the hands/on the screen of my supervisor and awaiting feedback from my committee members. It has been a work in progress for just over six months, with many back and forths, many edits and revisions, many additions and reworkings. The overall structure is the same as other research proposals I’ve read and reviewed – those found in the open. I appreciated these for the insights they provided so I will in turn share my research proposal in the open for others to read.

The body of work contains 52 pages within four chapters, 13 pages of references (single spaced), and four appendices which include my draft interview protocol, my recruitment and informed consent drafts, a list of potential participants to interview, and a GANTT chart outlining a possible research timeline. The major difference between this completed proposal and the one I wrote for the Research Colloquium course is the depth of detail and the theoretical/ conceptual direction underpinning the research.

I’ve written about these in previous blog posts so won’t go into more detail here, but I am wondering and pondering how the committee members will react to this document and the direction of the research. Once I’ve received feedback, I will post the revised and completed research proposal and link it into this blog post. Stay tuned for more.

This image is representative of how I feel about this point in time. I’m close, but not quite through the gap and into the light of my research work. I can see and anticipate the next phase, but I’m still standing in the dark, with some seriously uncertain steps yet to take.
