Post for some Post ISTE connections
I have had the opportunity to travel to Chicago to attend the ISTE conference (International Society of Technology in Education) where I was able to connect to higher education professionals who work within teacher education and other higher education spaces with technology. There were opportunities to share and showcase research projects through poster sessions and snapshot sharing spaces. I have made several links to researchers in similar topics and spaces that may further my own research, or at least be models for researcher practices.
As a result of attending this conference, I am also able to receive a discounted subscription to both peer reviewed research journals published by ISTE which will allow me to further examine current research trends in the area of technology use in education. I was able to reconnect to members of the Teacher Educator Network (#isteTEN) while at the conference, many of whom are openly sharing their teaching and learning through blogs, Twitter and other social media spaces. Their open, digital presence is mirrored in their peer reviewed publications.
Here are a few that I consider models and mentors for the work teacher educators do in research and actions:
- Dr. Torrey Trust – on Twitter @torreytrust; publication Why do we need technology in education?
- Dr. Dennis McElroy – on Twitter @acoustimac; Ed Tech Dreams, Hopes, and Promises blog site
- Rachel Dene Poth – on Twitter @Rdene915; Website
- Dr. Sam Fecich – on Twitter @SFecich; Tech Outside the Bun website
- Jennifer Fox – on Twitter @JenniferFox13;
- Dr. Susan Poyo – on Twitter @spoyo
- Dr. Lisa Kolb – on Twitter @lkolb; Cell Phones in Learning blog site
- Dr. Teresa Cullen – on Twitter @DrTerriC; Website and blog, specifically one written about AR/VR
There are many more, but this will be a starting point to build a PLN from ISTE18.
